Dedicated VFD for Alternative Torque Motor Winding Solution
Process requirements

1. The torque motor has the following characteristics: It has relatively soft mechanical characteristics. When the set torque is greater than the load torque, 

the motor automatically accelerates. When the set torque is less than the load torque, the motor automatically decelerates, even under the load torque. 

Under the effect of reverse rotation, when the set torque is equal to the load torque, the motor keeps the same speed.


2. The output torque of the torque motor is set by the controller, which is suitable for constant tension unwinding and winding control, 

and is widely used in textile, wire and cable, metal processing, papermaking, rubber, plastic and printing machinery and other industrial fields.


3. Ordinary inverters can only be used for open-loop speed regulation of AC motors, the motor torque is completely uncontrollable, and cannot function as a torque motor.


4. The current-type vector control frequency converter, through the complex and accurate vector control algorithm, realizes the torque current closed-loop control,

can directly set and control the output torque of ordinary asynchronous motors, completely replace the above functions of the torque motor, and even have better results.

System Configuration

Ordinary three-phase asynchronous motor: select the number of poles and power of the three-phase asynchronous motor according to the requirements 

for high speed and torque in the application.

Inverter: EM303A series open-loop vector control inverter, current vector control, built-in braking unit, matching braking resistor according to motor power


Ordinary asynchronous motors are used for constant torque control, without encoder speed feedback, and can directly set and control the motor tension, 

directly replacing the torque motor.


Solution advantages

1. There is no need to add a tension detection mechanism and a speed feedback encoder. The system structure is simple, the cost performance is high, and the installation and debugging are very convenient.

2. The torque motor system is easily damaged due to heat and improper operation. The existing scheme is used to improve the motor protection function, easy to use and maintain, safe and stable system, and long service life.

3. Torque control accuracy is higher than torque motor.

4. It can be set to automatic taper torque control.

5. With the functions of static friction torque compensation and large inertia acceleration torque compensation, the winding control effect is better, and the operation is simpler and more flexible.
